Sleeping in a Brewery
Doghouse in Columbus Ohio provides an unbelievable, unique experience.
No not from being overserved. This brewery doubled as a hotel. If you look at the last few posts, you’ll notice that Brookmeade as a whole has been quiet the past several months. This wasn’t for lack of trying. After 5 years in the military, my wife and I packed up and moved home. Between wedding planning, job searches, and a cross country move, the brewery took the back seat.
On day 3 of our trip, we stopped in Columbus Ohio. Columbus is probably most known for being the state capital or home to The Best Damn Band in the Land (O-H). From now on though, when I think of Columbus, I am thinking of DogHouse Hotel, the coolest hotel I’ve ever stayed at.
Your experience starts at check-in, where you are given room keys, property information, and two beers on the (dog)house. The lobby doubles as a bar. Surrounded by couches, good music, and board games, you might be tempted to spend your whole time there...don’t fall for the trap. Because just outside the hotel is:
Another full service bar
Conex beer garden
Beer Museum
Gift Shop
Dog Park
Walking Path
Weight room (a really nice one)
And once you’ve seen it all, you get to head back past the brewery to one of the most unique rooms you’ll ever stay in. Your room will be complete with a beer shower fridge, vinyl collection, stocked mini bar, robes, and much more. You grazed over that first part, THERE IS A FRIDGE IN THE BATHROOM DEDICATED TO SHOWER BEERS. I’d almost advise against checking into your room right away because you won’t want to leave. Our room was on the first floor and had a great walkout patio (which was great for the pup), but from what I could tell, every room had some special feature to it.
While we didn’t get to spend nearly as much time as we wanted to there, it was an unforgettable experience. We will be looking for reasons to come back!
